of Governance

As your next councilwoman

My inspiration for government and governing comes from Christian social teaching, which holds within it a wealth of ideas that emphasizes the advancement of the common good, the promotion of human dignity, and the protection of fundamental human rights.

By embracing these values, we can foster a community that cherishes the well-being and flourishing of every individual, creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for all.
My leadership is focused on discerning the common good among the many competing interests, needs, and demands of the communities I will serve. Therefore, my six governing values include:

1. Life and Dignity of Everyone - I firmly hold the belief that every single human being possesses inherent dignity and is deserving of respect. Each person is created in the image and likeness of God, and as such, carries within them a divine spark of truth, beauty, and goodness. This fundamental conviction forms my approach to public service. My efforts are dedicated to the well-being of every individual, recognizing that their needs extends across several dimensions: economic, political, social and ecological. I believe with my heart that the flourishing of humanity should be the ultimate goal of politics, transcending party loyalties and partisan agendas. Our council, therefore, must diligently work towards benefiting every resident, appreciating and celebrating the diverse tapestry of our community.

2. Rights and Responsibilities - The promotion of life and dignity is a sacred task that can only be accomplished by upholding the fundamental human rights enshrined in the United States Constitution.
Human rights emerge from the simple fact, that we are "endowed by our Creator.” I endeavor to foster a community that not only cherishes individual freedoms, but also cultivates a sense of shared responsibility and mutual respect. Thus my approach to public service and civic order is to uphold the rights of all, recognizing that by doing so, we collectively contribute to a community that is fair, just, and compassionate.

3. Community and Participation - At the heart of building strong and vibrant communities lies Jesus' profound commandment to "love thy neighbor." This timeless teaching serves as a guiding principle in upholding the bonds of fellowship and fostering a sense of unity among us all. Democracy is not a spectator sport—it is an active and participatory endeavor. I firmly believe that every individual possesses both the right and the duty to engage and actively participate in their community, as well as in the decision-making processes that directly impact their quality of life.

4. Common Good - In our pursuit of a more perfect union, where the blessings of life, liberty, and justice are extended to all, it is essential that our policies, decisions, and actions are guided by a genuine commitment to the well-being of the maximum number of Covington residents. My approach centers on working for the benefit of ALL residents, rather than prioritizing personal gains or focusing solely on specific parts of town. I believe in the importance of fostering a sense of equality among all members of our community without discrimination based on party affiliation, race, creed, gender, sexual identity, age, or social status.

5. Care for God's Creation - The well-being of our community is intricately intertwined with the health of our natural home. Recognizing this vital connection, it becomes our responsibility to act as good stewards, diligently preserving Earth's God-given ecological inheritance as a testament of our respect for past, present, and future generations.

6. City Flourishing - At the center of my aspirations for Covington lies the concept of city flourishing—a vision where our community thrives and blossoms in every aspect. This encompasses the economic, political, social, and ecological well-being of every neighborhood within our city. The inspiration is to "Love the Cov" which calls us to take practical steps to truly know and care for our neighbors. Communities thrive when its neighborhoods thrive.
